STUART, FLORIDA – Coaxial Components Corp, headquartered in Stuart, Florida is the manufacturing center for development of Coaxicom RF microwave components. Under the direction of American Global Standards of Montecito, CA, the company achieved its ISO 9001:2105 and AS9100:2016 Rev. D recertifications for the Design and Manufacture of Coaxial Components & Cable Assemblies. The original certification was achieved in 2014.

Established in 1983, Coaxial Components Corp was purchased in late 2018 by two Florida businesswomen, Donna Haas and Laurie Andrews. The company is also now a Certified Woman-Owned Small Business specializing in the design and manufacturing of precision connectors, inter & intra series adapters; RF connectors; attenuators; terminations; phase adjusters; torque wrenches and cable assemblies.

Since the ownership change, the company has focused its expansion into the growing markets for radio frequency technology including the private space industry, 5G communications, drone technology and other military applications. As a nimble small business operating under lean manufacturing guidelines, the company is able to offer significantly shorter lead times for custom manufacturing and a wide selection of in-stock components due to Coaxicom’s 36-year history.

Under the new direction, Coaxicom has achieved a 32% increase in sales revenue and is providing precision components to many of the world’s leading companies including Lockheed Martin, Northrup Grumman, Boeing, Spacex, Harris L3, Honeywell and Raytheon. Yale University researchers have also applauded the company’s development of a series of non-magnetic connectors currently being utilized in the development of quantum computing.

RF “Connector Saver” Can Save You Money

Comments off 1643 Views0

Connector Saver.

Within any connector family there are three adapters you can use. A male-to-male adapter refers to an adapter with two male ends. This is often referred to as a “barrel” adapter. A female-to-female adapter has two female ends; it is often referred to as a “bullet” adapter. An adapter with one male end and one female end is referred to as a “connector saver“.

Why a Money Saver?

Because this type of adapter is often screwed onto an expensive piece of test equipment or component that requires a lot of connect/disconnect cycles. As a result,  if an incident occurs where one of the connectors is damaged, it is far cheaper to  replace the connector saver (adapter) than to repair expensive equipment that it is protecting.

Inter Series Adapters.

Inter series coaxial adapters are some of the more common components used in RF, microwave and telecommunication/wireless, and networking applications. OEM’s and manufacturing and engineering test facilities are continually required to provide temporary or permanent connections between the many coaxial series in use.

Long Established Connector Series.

Today, this is particularly true where long established connector series (N, TNC, BNC, 874, SMA, etc.) must be mated with less common or more recently introduced interfaces.   Examples of these are 3.5 mm, 2.9 mm, 2.4 mm, 7/16, SSMA, SSMB, SSMC, MCX, MMCX, and 7 mm.

The Coaxicom Solution.

Recognizing this need, COAXICOM maintains a large inventory of common and not-so-common inter as well as intra adapters. The user should bear in mind that for best performance, the usable frequency range for a given adapter is established by the operating range of the lower frequency interface on the adapter. Most adapters are usable at higher frequencies within limitations.

1. 75 ohm SMB and SMC “type” do
not mate with the 50 ohm series.
2. 50 and 75 ohm Type N do not mate
with each other.
3. 50 and 75 ohm BNC mate without
4. 50 and 75 ohm TNC mate without
5. SMA, 3.5 mm and 2.9 mm mate
without restriction.

Coaxicom offers a complete line of SSMB, SSMC, and SCMS (slide-on SSMB) series connectors to complement our standard SMB, SMC, and CMS (slide-on SMB) series.

These Microminature connectors provide the same mating design as the SMB, SMC, and CMS series with approximately a one-third size reduction, and operate to 12.4 GHz with high reliability. All feature gold-plated brass bodies.

The SSMB (6MXXX) and SSMC (8MXXX) series are available in straight and right angle cable plugs and jacks, and bulkhead jacks. P.C. board plugs and jacks, and straight panel receptacles are also available, as well as in-series jack-to-jack adapter. The SCMS series (9MXXX) is available in straight and right angle plugs, bulkhead receptacles, and straight and right angle P.C. board plugs.

BNC Connectors

Why are BNC Connectors a Top Seller?

Comments off 2793 Views0

An evolution of a design created by Octavio Salati, the BNC connector (Bayonet Neill-Concelman) created by Paul Neill and Carl Concelman is named for its bayonet mount locking device. Miniature units, BNC’s are among the most popular RF connectors and feature a quick disconnect 2-stud lock coupling mechanism. This close-fitting connection uses a mount comparable to a bayonet that is attached onto the end of a rifle. Initially intended for military use only, BNC connectors were then utilized on Ethernet networks/ network cards. BNC connectors are now one of the most widely used RF connectors across multiple industries including aviation, aerospace, alternative energy, research/development and testing. Most recently BNC connectors can be found in recording studios, video labs and devices. For example, digital recording equipment uses the BNC connection for synchronization of various components via the transmission of timing signals.

Coaxial Components Corp. (Coaxicom) a manufacturer of RF and Microwave components since 1984 specializes in all types of connectors and offers BNC’s in a variety of flexible and semi-rigid cable termination styles. Coaxicom’s BNC connectors withstand a temperature range of -65 degrees  to 165 degrees Celsius. Nickel plating is standard on most connectors but gold and silver are available options. Center contacts are gold plated per MIL-PRF-39012 mandates. Keep in mind, a BNC connector can be connected to various types of coaxial cables and typically uses voltages below 500 volts and frequencies below 3 GigaHertz. Other additions are bulkhead, PCB jacks and receptacles are also in stock and ready to ship same day as needed.

Always competitively priced and made with engineering supervision, Coaxicom also offers a selection of Twinaxial (TWBNC) BNC type connectors with 2-stud coupling. They are similar in size to BNC connectors, and are best suited for use with RG- 108/U and similar cables. Twinaxial connectors have a nominal impedance of 78 Ω and a frequency range of DC-500 MHz. Also available: reverse polarized connectors, bulkhead mounted hermetically sealed adapters, as well as bulkhead adapters with isolated ground. Plus Coaxicom can custom create any connector to meet exact specifications for a one-of-a-kind, proprietary part.  Coaxicom provides a full range of helpful services that range from custom labels and packaging and flexible warehousing agreements.

There is also a threaded version of the BNC connector called the threaded Neill-Concelman (TNC) connector. This connector allows higher frequencies than the BNC connector into the microwave bands.

Coaxial Components Corp. AKA Coaxicom is AS9100C and ISO9001:2008 certified and specializes in the manufacture of RF connectors, attenuators, terminations, adapters, torque wrenches, phase adjusters and cable assemblies.
